Abstract:
In China, the concept of New Engineering Education was born in 2017 and began to be implemented in 2018. This term refers to both new majors and new directions, as well as new teaching methods to be implemented in a reformed new educational system. One of the most prominent aspects of today's engineering education is interdisciplinary integration.

Interdisciplinarity cannot be defined by a single traditional discipline. This is a form of multidisciplinary integration of existing traditional disciplines. The development of interdisciplinarity will inevitably require innovation in the teaching and training processes.

Based on this theme, engineering education reform in China's higher education institutions has been carried out in full swing, and many innovative attempts have been made. Particularly, China's comprehensive universities and universities offering traditional engineering programs have taken the lead in the development of New Engineering construction, the implementation of multidisciplinary programs, and the exploration of new avenues for faculty development and talent training.

This article explores, through literature searches, surveys, and interviews, some examples of New Engineering Education in China's higher education institutions in light of interdisciplinary engineering education. It thus exemplifies the current situation of China's engineering education, in which experience and lessons are learned.

In the end, suggestions will be made for the development of interdisciplinary engineering education in China's higher education institutions. Moreover, it is hoped that this article will serve as a reference for those seeking information about such themes.
