Abstract:
Children are most interested in playing computer or mobile phone games other than engaging with studies. This preference is based on the computerized games; they could feel the natural experience of playing a game with the provided interactivity through the available technologies in such high end devices. Further with the traditional and primary pedagogies in the educational environment it is unable to generate enthusiasm among the students towards learning like a computer game. Still such methodologies of teaching are having the same monotonous nature. If there will be any mechanism of providing the above discussed interactivity on the delivery of education along with advanced technologies, student’s interest on learning could be enhanced. At present, in most of the educational institutes, they utilize e-learning approaches to facilitate the students with distance-learning. The major issues with such systems are the lack of interactivity and unable of viewing the contents with mobile devices.
Learning Management System (LMS) is an example for such a system where the teachers could upload learning materials such as notes, assignments, marks, etc. and students could access and engage with the activities available on them. In this research, it has been focused on delivering the existing materials available in LMS through a mobile app in an interactive manner to enhance the student interest on studies. In the app, special consideration is made on delivery of the different quiz types. To generate the feeling of natural movements and realism when engaging with the activities like matching the questions and answers, doing true false questions, understanding a difficult concept in the lesson, here I have used the functionalities of dragging and dropping, ticking on a checkbox, use of animations etc. They are some of the techniques that have been applied here in providing more interactivity.
Framework that has been used to develop the app is Apache Cordova, from which the platform independence could be delivered. For having the responsiveness with any mobile device screen while the app is been displayed, different techniques are used here. Overall target in this research work is to provide much more interactivity on delivering studies through an introducing mobile learning environment to enhance the student interest and the motivation on engaging with the learning. Better utilization of the limited resources in the mobile devices such as space, and storage to achieve the above fact was the other major challenge. Keywords:
