Abstract:
Quality has a significant place in human life. As much as quality of life is important in adult life, quality of school life is equally important in the life of students. The effects of quality of school life on attitude towards the school and academic achievements are undeniable. The objective of the present study is to determine whether the views of faculty of education students on the quality of faculty life differed based on the variables of seniority, gender and the departments they attend. The study was designed with descriptive survey model, a quantitative research model. Data was collected using “Quality of Faculty Life Scale” developed by Çokluk Bökeoğlu and Yılmaz (2006). The scale includes three sub-dimensions of “Satisfaction with Classroom Environment and Student Relations (7 items),” “Satisfaction with the Faculty Members (15 items),” and “Satisfaction with the Faculty (15 items).” The scale has three points of “I agree,” “I do not know,” and “I disagree.” Certain items in the scale are reverse scored. A high score obtained in the scale reflects a positive view on the expressions about quality of faculty life, and a low score reflects a negative view. Universe of the study was freshmen and juniors attending Anadolu University Faculty of Education. Anadolu University, Faculty of Education Primary Education Department freshmen and junior students, selected with convenience sampling method, consisted the sample of the study. Data analysis was conducted with SPSS software package. Where there was a normal data distribution, t-test was utilized for class level and gender variables, ANOVA was used for department variable, and where there was no normal data distribution, Mann Whitney U-test was utilized for class level and gender variables, and Kruskal Wallis test was used for department variable. The results will be evaluated in “Satisfaction with Classroom Environment and Student Relations,” “Satisfaction with the Faculty Members,” and “Satisfaction with the Faculty” sub-dimensions. Results, discussions and recommendations will be developed as a result of the obtained findings.
