Abstract:
Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) is a rapidly evolving field with the potential to revolutionize the production of various content such as text, images, audio, video, and code. In the context of education, GenAI offers significant opportunities for creating engaging and high-quality learning materials that provide students with a rich experience. Anadolu University's Open Education System, one of the world's leading Giga universities, has also begun to utilize GenAI tools in its learning material production processes, especially for audio and video content. This study aims to explore the possibilities of leveraging generative AI to produce high-quality visual and auditory educational content more efficiently, as a solution to the challenges faced by traditional content creation methods. For this purpose, a focus group interview was conducted with 10 experts who produce content in the field. The data obtained from the interviews were thematically analyzed, and important themes regarding the role of GenAI in educational content production processes were identified. These themes were determined as: time and effort, quality, cost, use cases and GenAI as a tool, risks and limitations, learning and student impact, pedagogical alignment in content to be produced, accessibility and ethics, and AI-human collaboration and workflow design in the production process. This study provides significant findings on how artificial intelligence-oriented solutions should shape content creation processes and how they can make high-quality learning resources more accessible and sustainable, thereby contributing to the determination of steps to guide future production processes.
