Abstract:
Psychomotor skills are one of the main forms of adaptation that allow preschool children to explore the world and develop their personality, so it is an important goal for special education. Motor deficiencies and difficulties are associated with cognitive delays and learning difficulties which can be caused by low psychomotor development. Training motor skills can reduce the gap of cognitive and motor delays, being one of the parameters from which all other personality parameters are created.

The aim of our research is to reduce the general motor skills difficulties of children with special needs, to facilitate the acquisition of knowledge, practical and sustainable skills necessary for daily life adaptation.

Our research took place between October 2018 and December 2019, at the School Center for Inclusive Education in Brasov, Romania. Within the pedagogical experiment used, we applied an individualized and differentiated psychomotor intervention program to a group of preschoolers with special educational needs, aged between 5 and 7.

The research objectives were mainly aimed at developing various aspects of psychomotor skills, among which we mention: segmental and general dynamic coordination, laterality, static and dynamic coordination, balance, motor perceptual structures and speed of movements. We applied the tests in assessing the psychomotor difficulties, adapted, according to Radu I.D., and Ulici GHe.

The results showed a progress in all children included in the project, and a positive evolution between the initial and final testing with one exception, due to a neurological condition that accompanied the mental deficiency of a child in our study.
