Abstract:
The practices in the Ecuadorian higher education constitute one of the main bases within the process of professional formation of the students developed in real learning environments. In this way, it contributes to the strengthening of different sectors of society, especially productive and community. Through previous theoretical knowledge acquired in the classroom, these practices contribute to the development of skills and abilities in students, strengthening competences necessary for their professional performance. This work was developed in the mining engineering career, with the participation of 45 students who attend levels between 300-1 to 500-1 and 6 teachers who have fulfilled the role of tutors of the practices. The purpose of this work is to validate the profile of the practitioner in the development of community service projects as relevant spaces for the students of the career, related to artisanal and small-scale mining, both superficial and underground, considering the student as the main actor within of the training process. The designed method has a descriptive qualitative approach, such as a phenomenological study, using techniques as survey, interview and observation by the tutors. Tools that have allowed investigating categories such as the application of knowledge, preference of the field of work, occupational safety and health, multidisciplinary teamwork, professional ethics and complexity of the location are used. The results have allowed validating the profile of the practitioner, ensuring the relevance of the career in the scenarios identified for the action, as well as for the proposal of improvement actions in the planning process of pre-professional practices in the career.
