Abstract:
A practical activity is proposed, with the aim of detecting how the gender perspective influences key decision-making in a critical situation with a high level of stress. This activity pursues the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) of "Achieving gender equality and empowering all women."
The students of the subject (where less than 10% of the student body is usually female) must jump into a group dynamic in which they must put themselves in a situation of an atomic disaster that has decimated the world population. There are only 10 survivor characters (each represented by one of the students), and they must between them choose which 5 characters to save by entering the underground shelter.
All 10 characters represent the different and most varied stereotypes, divided into characters of different sex, age, sexual orientation and psychologically striking backgrounds.
The students, once their discussion and debate has been dramatized, show their learning about how the gender perspective (along with prejudices about age, sexual orientation, and other details) has influenced their decision-making. Finally, measures are debated that are estimated to favor that in a real and less dramatic situation, the gender perspective is considered in a natural and socially inclusive way.
The conclusion obtained in the debate-discussion carried out indicates that the gender perspective, as well as respect for the diversity of ages, sexual orientation and other psychological traits, are currently accepted within the wealth that diversity brings to society, at least within the group of students who have completed the exercise. It is observed that valuing the role of women, through the recognition of their qualities and social relevance, makes the Sustainable Development Goals achieved to a maximum degree globally.
The inclusion of the gender perspective in the debate generated in this group dynamic has generated interesting discussions about the relevance of the role of women in key professions for today's society. It is shown that in an activity initially focused on highlighting the biological component for the survival of the species (in which obviously, a priori women have preponderance), and in a mostly male work group, the key role of women in achieving the objectives of society. Keywords:
