THE TOOL OF INTERNET IN THE QUALITY POSTGRADUATE EDUCATION. AN APPLICATION TO THE MASTER OF VALUATION OF THE UPV
The course 2008-2009 is the 11th edition of the Master of Valuation of the UPV.
The Master degree is accredited by the UPV, and it has always been offered as distance learning. This learning methodology was considered for several reasons:
Firstly, the valuation is a very specific field. This is the only Master of Valuation in Spain that considers a wide range of areas of application.(Art, Agriculture, Numismatics, Real Estate…)
Secondly, the distance learning makes possible for anyone to have access to postgraduate education independently of their location.
Finally, the potential students of the Master are graduates that are already working and need to update their knowledge. Most of professionals can´t combine their work with a mandatory attendance to class. This way they can combine postgraduate education and work.
This paper analyzes the impact of the Internet Technologies in the Master from two perspectives: the teaching and the management point of view.
The influence of the use of Internet Technologies in the Master is analyzed through the geographical origin of the students of the Master.
Also it is analyzed the way the use of new digital Technologies have been integrated as teaching staff tools.
In particular, the Master has evolved from its beginnings when the academic materials were sent by post and tutorials were offered via telephone or fax. At a second stage of the Master, it was promoted the use of electronic mail and a basic informatic platform, until the state of the Master now, when the materials, the evaluations and the tutorials are completely offered through e-learning.
Recently, the option of examining the students via Internet is being studied. This way the students would not have to move to Valencia, and the rate of success of the Master in terms of number of students registered would increase.
The advantages of the application of Internet are a wide range of tasks or activities, from the initial marketing of the Master to the submission of certificates or degrees of the Master.
