Abstract:
In the new millennium, in the era of informatization and high technologies, the competitiveness of any country on a global scale depends largely on the level of education of its citizens, and therefore, quality education has emerged as a guarantee of economic development and prosperity of the country in the world arena.

The Ukrainian experience in implementing monitoring in higher education institutions suggests that it is a necessary element of quality assurance of education in today's conditions and covers the availability of the necessary resources, which include: human resources, financial resources, material, scientific, information, etc.; organization of the educational process that most adequately corresponds to the current trends in the development of national and world economy and education; control of educational activities of higher education institutions and the quality of specialists training at all stages of study and levels.

The given study investigates, firstly, the issue of monitoring the quality of higher education at the national level by outlining main objects of monitoring and directions of research, and summarizing main tasks, functions, types and principles of educational monitoring and, secondly, the principles, procedures, institutional structure of the Internal Quality Assurance System of educational activities and quality of higher education in the National Aviation University.
The methodological basis for the study of the monitoring problem as a tool for determining the quality of education in Ukraine were the principles of systemic and holistic, synergetic, paradigmatic approaches to professional formation, humanistic theory of self-actualization, as well as the self-realization of the individual.
