Abstract:
The realities of the modern world orient the system of Adult and Vocational education to the rapid changes and innovation aimed at ensuring a high quality of study process. Thus working out an effective assessment mechanism of students’ activities, which can function as a major instrument of quality monitoring, is becoming a topical issue. That is why one of the primary goals of Higher Linguistic education is to develop an innovative system of students’ evaluation and assessment on the basis of information technologies (ITs).
In this paper, we present the description of the mechanism of evaluation and assessment of prospective linguists’ study activity on the basis of information technologies.
Formative assessment is aimed at monitoring the current status of student understanding. The article reviews the importance of feedback about teaching, which is namely students’ progress. ITs in formative assessment allow gathering information about students’ outcomes, exerting positive influences on student outcomes and these are not confined to improving test scores.
The basic issue to be described in this paper is the mechanism of evaluation of the language skills of students of Linguistics faculties. Here we highlight the possibilities of a free web application “Moodle” in the process of evaluation of students’ language skills. The paper suggests the possible aspects of evaluation of in-class and out-of-class activities of language students, presents an instrument of evaluation – an electronic mark-book, designed with the help of Excel program.
The mechanism presented in this paper can be easily reproduced and successfully incorporated in teacher practice at the Linguistic faculties. Keywords:
