Abstract:
This article highlights the problem of training of interpreters in the system of continuing education. This issue is very actual in the Russian social conditions. Joining the European Higher Education Area and changing the main approach to the system of continuing education in the framework of the Bologna Process, the system of Russian education is experiencing the set of major reforms, leading to great innovations at all levels of Higher Education. One of the areas of Higher Education reform is the development and implementation of the requirements to the training level of graduates. The main innovative approach in the system of Russian Higher Education is the competence approach. This approach is used in all spheres of Higher Education in general and in the sphere of Higher linguistic education in particular. Thus, one of the key competencies of an interpreter is the information competency. The importance of the information competency in the structure of professional competency of an interpreter is acknowledged by the majority of modern experts. In general sense information competency is understood as the ability to identify an information need, to find the needed information efficiently, and to use information effectively and ethically on the basis of ICTs. Information competency combines aspects of library literacy, research methods, critical thinking, and technological literacy. But there still exists the problem of determining the set of skills that should be included in the notion of information competency of an interpreter. Thus, the structure of the information competency has become the problem under analyses.
