Abstract:
As is well known, the architecture is a complex phenomenon based on scientific, technological and artistic interdisciplinarity. The student of the faculty of architecture manifests himself as a creative being, capable of accumulating new information from various fields related to architecture, to process them, to capitalize them and finally, through the result of creation, to enrich the environment. These architectural forms are adapted to technical and constructive thinking with the help of descriptive geometry, which trains three-dimensional thinking. In the first year of the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism at the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca in Romania, two geometric disciplines are studied that approach different teaching methods to prepare students for their task of designing in three-dimensional space. This paper presents the way in which geometrical knowledge is taught and applied through the disciplines Geometry of Architectural Forms and Descriptive Geometry, allowing architect students to create architectural concepts, volumes and spaces. An architect must be able to see problems from several different directions, to be able to design space, he must know the geometry of structural forms, that of basic geometric volumes or geometric surfaces for a good development of spatial thinking.
