Abstract:
The Formative Register in the medical sphere is practically a cornerstone of the training of future practitioners in the medical field; thus, finding a bridge between the elements found in dental medical practice and the virtual environment is an essential solution to avoid losing the educational values so important in medical practice.
In unfavorable situations, such as pandemic periods, the Sars-Cov-2 pandemic being an eloquent example that disrupted the natural course of training of students in dental schools, Universities of Medicine and Pharmacy went online through presentations as well as running internships in this manner. Certainly, it was a life-saving solution, but it is important that all these things are done in a similar manner to the on-site activity. Therefore, the present study aims to analyze the opportunity of implementing innovative methods such as the corroboration of expert systems with simulation in essential areas of general medicine that influence oral rehabilitation, thus creating integrative concept trajectories in the territory of oral pathology, often the gateway and diagnosis for general pathologies.
Expert systems linked to simulation systems constitute a virtual approach to provide a possibility of diagnosis, of therapeutic decision, of clinical scenarios both in contexts that limit access to the patient and in the normality pathway in order to have a holistic approach in this vast medical territory.
Expert systems behave like "intelligent assistants", as they have methods of invoking knowledge and expressing expertise.
Expert systems have knowledge and the ability to perform human intellectual activities.
The literature highlights the role of the use of virtual reality technology in the medical education process. In recent years, various medical simulators have been used in prestigious universities, or in particular in dentistry using virtual reality technology. The introduction of innovative systems based on these technologies in the dental curriculum has become a goal for quality improvement in dental medical education.
Simulation methods are a cutting-edge method that is absolutely necessary in the phase prior to the practical implementation of the research stages, outlining precise trajectories for approaching certain directions with practical applicability, the final results being relevant when duplicated by experimental models that reiterate the clinical situation analyzed. The role of expert systems in the development of programs that predict the therapeutic solutions in accordance with the patient's general condition is extremely important both in the activity of a site and online, having a profound formative character by developing the clinical sense and especially the therapeutic decision.
