Abstract:
Today's educational system is characterized both by traditional elements, preserved over the time due to their fundamental and basic nature in scientific knowledge, and by elements of modernism, which are related to the possibility of studying according to the cognitive-emotional, vocational or technical abilities of the targeted recipients. This concept of variability, but also integrative in the same time, is easily recognized especially in higher education, through a wide range of specializations offered by universities / colleges around the world. In the pre-university (high school) educational system, diversification is known as subsystems that can provide fundamental, vocational or technological levels of training.

In the competency-based knowledge system of education, to which tends the worldwide system of teaching and learning, the completion of the tertiary level in line with the educational profile of the secondary level should be regarded with greater responsibility by both the teachers and, especially, by those who want to become students. It is well known that each faculty and university reserves the right to choose its future students using different criteria of selection, and which often refers to the grades obtained in the baccalaureate exam, in association or not with the grades obtained in a written exam which includes basic subjects for the profile chosen to be studied. In some cases, the interview is also taken into account. In the absence of an exam of admission, a continuity of the chosen specializations or of the curriculum studied according to the chosen high school and faculty profiles, is recommended to ensure a level of preparation for performance and not just for the acquisition of basic elements of knowledge. In some situations, taking higher education in a specialization found in continuity with that of the high school already graduated, can be an advantage for certain fields, such as technological ones – of agricultural, veterinary, food or construction industry, or others, such as those related to the computer science area. During the years of studying, the student can use in real time the information, experience and, as the case may be, the craftsmanship acquired during the high school, all of these leading to his much faster improvement in the chosen field.

The aim of this study is to debate, using personal considerations associated with the study of scientific literature, the importance of cognitive-emotional, vocational or technical matching of the student to the specialization chosen to be studied in tertiary education, as a basic element for individual progress and even of the institution of which he is a part.
