Abstract:
The aim of this paper is to analyze the role of digital photography in special needs education, and in specific to present methodological approaches in the context of a diverse and inclusive education.

The use of digital photography in the educational environment of special education contributes to an alternative way of approaching the teaching of artistic practices, and also to the creation of a special communication code for children with disabilities and special educational needs.

This paper presents teaching scenarios for students with disabilities and special educational needs that were carried out in a Special Vocational Education Laboratory in Athens, during the "Ceramics-Handicrafts" specialty courses, in order to highlight teaching methods in the context of the pedagogy of inclusion and multimodality.

In the modern context where digital image technologies play a dominant role in communication and education, the inclusion of digital photography in special education is necessary for art lessons, as a means for the implementation of teaching and learning objectives, the activation of students, the strengthening of their self-confidence and self-esteem, but also the cultivation of a climate of good relationship and cooperation, respect for diversity and the lack of marginalization of students with special needs.
