Abstract:
This paper describes an educational experience of learning by doing in a teachers’ course about e-Safety. A total of 80 teachers enrolled on the course, which lasted 25 hours, 12 of which face to face and the remaining 13 online. The course combined classroom lectures from leading experts in
e-Safety and digital citizenship with practical sessions, in which teachers used an e-Learning platform called EducaInternet and an authoring tool available on the platform to create and publish teaching units about e-Safety. Several evaluations were carried out to evaluate this experience. Course participants filled out three questionnaires: one about the e-Learning platform, one about the employed authoring tool and finally one about the course, in which they gave general feedback about the learning experience. Besides, the teaching units created by the teachers were evaluated in terms of pedagogical quality, metadata quality and usage. The main results of the questionnaires, the calculated quality scores and the obtained statistics of use are exposed on the paper. Finally, an analysis of the results and some discussion about the "learning by doing" approach is provided. Keywords:
