Abstract:
Despite the blooming momentum that the Videogame industry currently experiences while transitioning into the Digital era, with a continuous growth in its number of consumers across various population segments, companies still struggle to find qualified workers in critical areas of their product lifecycle such as Business Development and Monetization.
Although the ideal skillset for a candidate to a generic position in Videogame Marketing and Sales can be identified, Videogame professionals in these areas have no choice but to acquire through self-learning a large part of the critical skills and knowledge required for the correct performance of their jobs, regardless of their respective academic background.
Universities struggle to match the evolution speed of the market while trying to update the content of their academic programs in areas of digital business, and in the meantime the Videogame industry is forced to hire workers only partially qualified for the Marketing and Sales missions they´ll be tasked with. This situation causes a detriment to the development potential of this industry, as time and effort are dedicated to compensate the skill mismatch between Education and Market Needs, instead of growing profit margins. Keywords:
