Abstract:
The poster deals with the teaching staff assessment in the University of Murcia. One of the main goals of this type of evaluation is to highlight the importance that the teaching activity has among other activities that the staff performs in the University of Murcia (UMU). Together with this, the teaching staff assessment enhances the staff development in terms of personal and professional growth as well as the quality of the teaching process itself. Finally, by introducing the teaching staff assessment in the UMU, it is possible to have one of the requirements that the internal system to guarantee quality expects from each faculty.

Consequently, thanks to the teaching staff assessment there is an improvement in the teaching training itself, which improves the teaching quality in the UMU as well. In addition, valuing assessment makes it possible for the staff members to be promoted and increase their yearly income. In this respect, there is an additional economic remuneration for the faculty when it gets a positive evaluation of the teaching staff it is composed of. Finally, as a consequence of the teaching staff assessment, there is a comprehensive evaluation of the UMU staff activity (which includes teaching, investigation, and management) in order to reduce the number of teaching hours the staff is supposed to cover.
