Abstract:
The Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) aims to train people, great professionals, who are also acknowledged for their human value. Their commitment to society is explicitly mentioned in both the strategic plan of the UPV and the mission of our institution.

With this in mind, PIME (Project for Innovation and Educative Improvement) was developed. Through two final degree projects (TFG), students were involved in research and innovative activities, carrying out real and collaborative tasks. PIME has been formulated as a project with a double objective. On the one hand, it aims to collaborate in the dissemination of the work done by the Center for Cooperation and Development (CCD) and the Area of Social Action, which are under the direction of the Vice President for Social Responsibility, Cooperation and Sports. On the other hand, it aims to develop the transversal competence CT7 of the UPV.

The project presents an informative campaign with the objective of making the commitment to activities of social cooperation carried out in the university context better known, overall, those activities in which the university community can directly involve itself, as a result of their raised awareness. Our goal is to reach the point where UPV students feel that their commitment to society and to people in situations of social risk is as important as their technical training.

The information campaign centers on two final degree projects carried out collaboratively among students, professors and the CCD. The first of these was called “Ideation and implementation of a sustainable, graphic publicity campaign with “flash” content related to social commitment, to be placed in the faculties of the Universitat Politècnica de València”. In this project, 60 publicity posters were produced, each with a unique slogan and pictogram, and printed on material to be reused in a future upcycling project.

The second final project was titled, “The making of a multiuse publicity support frame in different sizes, reusable and at a low cost”. This project was used to display the posters from the first project, and was designed with low-cost, recyclable, reusable and easy to acquire materials.

In this way, the transversal competence of ethical, environmental and professional responsibility (CT7) has not only been put into practice by the students, but it will also leave its mark during the 5 years that the project is going to be on display in the university community. Therefore, we will be able to evaluate the impact and the achievement of the awareness-raising activities by looking at the increase in the number of people who request initiatives linked to the CCD.
