USABLE AND ADAPTIVE FRAMEWORK IN THE TEACHING-LEARNING BOOLEAN ALGEBRA

At present, teachers seeking to meet the demanding needs of educational institutions through the planning and construction of web systems that facilitate the teaching-learning process. In particular, this research presents the design and implementation of Usable Adaptive Hypermedia System (SHAU) to perfect competence in students pursuing topics related to Boolean algebra.

This study was conducted in two universities located in Mexico (Federal District) and is supported by the Quantitative Approach to demonstrate the improvement development level of achievement, skills and attitudes through the SHAU. The total sample is 82 students taking the exams: "Computational Mathematics" and "Sequential Logic and Combinatorics". The experimental method by analysis of variance (ANOVA) assesses academic performance (theoretical exam, laboratory practice and participation in the classroom) students who use the web interface and the control group (no use of technology). Through ANOVA with significance level of 0.05 and 0.01 states that the use of SHAU facilitates the teaching-learning process related to the Boolean algebra.

The design of the SHAU allows show audiovisual content on Boolean algebra and teaching strategies (concept maps, tables and exercises) according to the characteristics and level of knowledge (adaptive assessment) of visual and auditory learners.

Programming in HTML 5 has a key role because the SHAU allows students to access information on Boolean algebra through flexibility in browsers: Google Chrome, Opera and Internet Explorer and operating systems: Windows, Linux and MAC.

Advances in science and pedagogy related to usability enable to create web systems that meet the demands of society related to the formation of active alumni and autonomous able to quickly join the workforce.
