Abstract:
For non Spanish mother tongue students, it may be difficult to be in a classroom, full of people talking fast and using technical terms. At the beginning of the course, the professor gives important information about the development of the subject, and sometimes foreign students are not able to full understand it. This may difficult the correct incorporation of the student to the classroom.
Avatars is a tool that may improve the subject image and will benefit the motivation of the pupils (both Spanish and non Spanish speakers).
For this reason we use an avatar who introduces in different languages (Spanish, English, German and French) the following information about the subject:
•Table of contents.
•Bibliography.
•Evaluation method.
•Course tutoring timetable.
•Practice activities development procedure.
•Information about the use of the virtual learning platform.
•Other important information.
It is important to highlight that we do not pretend to teach in a language different than Spanish, the goal is to give a tool in different languages that allows the pupil to understand the dynamic of the subject at the beginning of the course.
