Abstract:
The project “EDUCATIONAL INCLUSION INTO DIVERSITY, FACING SCHOOL LEAVING: INNOVATIVE METHODOLOGIES TO SUPPORT ETHNIC MINORITY STUDENTS AND STOP HATE SPEECH IN EUROPE” comes from the growth of hate speech across Europe, which in addition to being a great risk for European social cohesion and for the social inclusion of vulnerable groups, also translates into greater discrimination and bullying in classrooms throughout Europe.

Hate speech is multiplying, aggravating an already severe situation. The Resolution of the European Parliament on the need to reinforce the Framework of the Union of National Strategies for the Inclusion of roma persons for the period after 2020, points out that there has been a deterioration in school segregation, that anti-romanism and its manifestations -like hate crimes and hate speech, both online and offline- remain a source of great concern, noting that “intersectional discrimination must be addressed, and strategies need a strong gender dimension and a child-centered approach”.

Thus, improving the inclusion and educational results of these vulnerable groups, susceptible to hate speech involves, among other measures, ending the harassment to which they are subject, which usually leads to school absenteeism, discouragement, and finally leaving.

To this end, a series of innovative results have been created which will provide secondary school teachers with all the necessary tools to detect hate speech and harassment in their classrooms (The VIRTUAL ENVIRONMENT FOR THE DETECTION OF HARASSMENT AND HATE SPEECH IN THE CLASSROOM), work on them with their students (KITS AGAINST DISCRIMINATION), and generate processes of inclusion among them through collaborative work.

Three high-quality results stand out:
- The VIRTUAL ENVIRONMENT FOR THE DETECTION OF HARASSMENT AND HATE SPEECH IN THE CLASSROOM: by using subtle and anonymous surveys filled by the students via their smartphone and/or PC, this virtual environment not only allows to detect harassment and hate speech in whatever form they take, but also leads students to the educational contents in the Kits Against Discrimination that will help prevent them. The environment also has integrated bots that automatically identify types of hate speech used by the students if they use any discriminatory word or comment.
- Open Educational Resources (OERs): KITS AGAINST DISCRIMINATION: toolkits where teachers will find the most appropriate educational resources to deal with radicalization and the emergence of violent or segregating attitudes through didactic units, training posters, videos of both experts and victims, activities for the classroom, surveys with recommendations for teachers adapted to each type of hate speech, etc.
- A Didactic Program for the inclusion of roma students in the classroom, with useful guidelines for teachers aimed at avoiding all types of discrimination towards roma persons, as well as to facilitate their educational inclusion.

In this communication we introduce the different results of the project, the innovative educational methodology to fight hate speech in the classroom and promote a more inclusive education in Europe.
