Abstract:
The objective was to analyze the themes that mark the trend of educational research in contexts of change to have a perspective of where the research in the educational field is directed. For this reason, the results of the analysis of the topics proposed at national and international congresses and the recent changes resulting from the development of technologies are shown, the impact of COVID19 as well as its impact and public policies in the field of education.

Educational research acquires relevance in the entire educational sector, because it can be carried out in the different areas of an educational institution: in the field of administration, management, pedagogy and didactics of course, at all educational levels and in higher education, especially in relation to its substantive functions: research, teaching and the function of dissemination and dissemination of knowledge, as well as its flexibility to adapt to changes, technological, political, social and environmental.

The structure of the methodological processes used is based on the degree of complexity of the work, since in addition to identifying the written production of the researchers at the national level, their interpretation was considered necessary. From this perspective, approaches and management of quantitative and qualitative data were combined, because both "are two forms of approximation to reality that are not exclusive, but can become integrable (Wilcox, 1993, cited by Almudena, 2020), in the logic of complementarity.

Therefore, conceptual aspects, implications of the development of technology in education, as well as academic and social implications that became visible because of the COVID19 pandemic in the education sector are reviewed in a general way, but especially the change in themes and lines or the fields of research. The organizations considered for their importance and demand, at the national level the Congress of the Mexican Council for Educational Research (COMIE), which takes place every two years, and the International Conference on Education and New Learning Technologies (Edulearn), the period considered covers the year 2020 to 2024. As general results it was found that there have been substantial changes in the orientation of the themes, giving priority in both congresses to issues related to the development, application and use of technologies in the educational field.
