Abstract:
The prolonged state of stress due to the excess of tasks, the difficulty of the subjects to be taken or the high expectations of student performance among other factors, are closely related to what is known as academic burnout. The university student feels unmotivated, since he considers that it is a large workload that he has to develop, so he can easily abandon a career. If we add the Pandemic factor, which has seriously affected everyone, the problems increase. The present work aims to focus on the main causes that cause burnout in students of the Degree in Architecture of the UJAT (Universidad Juárez Autónoma de Tabasco), in Mexico. The study was conducted with a sample of 50 male and female students between 18 and 24 years of age. They were research subjects in a one-semester academic period from February to June 2021 with students from the 3rd to the 10th semester. The methodology carried out was non-experimental cross-sectional with a mixed approach as well as field and documentary research based on the cohorts. It was developed with a predominantly quantitative orientation. The data collection technique was the application of a survey developed using Linkert's technique with five levels of response ranging from totally disagree, disagree, not disagree-not agree, not agree, agree and totally agree. The results show that the factors that affect the optimal development of students are: physical and mental fatigue, difficulty of the subjects, lack of communication with teachers, difficulties in their private lives and lack of time among the most relevant.
