Abstract:
Today the role of the Professor dedicated to higher education is projected toward internationalization and presupposes, besides knowing English language, the ability to use of the virtual, electronic media and the application of new technologies in their educational work. On the international stages it is relevant to students and practitioners that their teachers have fluent knowledge on computer culture combined with a culture of interactive education that will allow him/her to keep at the peak of the global information. The use of the technologies of information and communication (ICT) for development of university institutions is already in daily use today. So, teachers must be integrated to the new trends of education since due to globalization and the era of technology, students are part of that atmosphere and have grown up in an environment where living without computers would have no sense. Teachers of undergraduates in engineering and architecture of the Universidad Juárez Autónoma de Tabasco (UJAT) are not exception in this integration. The objective of this research is to explore the role of the University educators towards the challenge of globalization and the use of electronic media in their academic work. The explorative research had its scope in the División Académica de Ingeniería y Arquitectura (DAIA) of the UJAT, with a sample of 120 out of 150 teachers who taught general and specific subjects of the degrees. A following of educational events, and mainly blogs and annotations of procedures that took place in the academic period of August 2010 to January 2011 were made, resulting in academic situations existing in the professors. Innovative proposals were created to motivate and at the same time to force the professors to update on new trends in virtual education. Keywords:
