Abstract:
Engagement is the positive psychological state, where the worker maintains high levels of vigor, dedication and absorption, helping them to feel physically and emotionally comfortable within their organization, thus allowing for joint growth. The study’s objective was to determine the level of Engagement in the fourth-level students of a university in their works, as well as the levels of prevalence of the dimensions (vigor, absorption and dedication) of the questionnaire used. The study´s type is quantitative, cross-sectional, its population is made-up of 378 master’s students that were studying in a university in Samborondón-Ecuador in 2019 and working at the same time. The instrument used for this investigation was the UWES-17 questionnaire which variables that were consider were sex, age, marital status, type of company (public and private), time at work and position. The results presented that 80.7% of the participants presented High and Very High levels of Engagement, however, 1.9% found a Low and Very Low level according to the scales presented the questionnaire. Dedication (dimension of Engagement) obtained the highest score with 63.8% is, highlighting the well-being, enthusiasm and inspiration that the worker may have within their organization; the dimension with the lowest score is absorption with 42.9%. The study, although it allows to conclude that the master's students generally have high levels of work engagement, the emotions and feelings must be analyze such as: the distortion of the time that the worker may present, as well as emphasize the motivation and feelings of happiness within the company or organization.
