Abstract:
The fast and growing development of technology, the existence of new types of collaborative networks and the global connectivity allow and require, urgently, that Higher Education institutions develop new, innovative and creative ways and models of teaching and learning. According to these new possibilities, this article is presented in two parts. A first one, which aims to present some of the currently emerging learning models for Higher Education, through the use of technology, defined by several international reports. And a second part, with the results of a systematic review in an international data base, which allows us to understand the degree of educational innovation that underlies the different learning models explored (flipped learning, personal learning environments, mobile learning, and massive open online courses). The results indicate that the mobile learning model is the most productive with a growing tendency. Finally we conclude presenting an emerging higher education model, cloud learning model, a cornerstone for empowering and building knowledge with technologies.
