Abstract:
The study investigates students’ perceptions of integrating multimedia e-learning materials to supplement Mandarin text book in the teaching and learning of Elementary Mandarin I in Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM), Shah Alam. The study outlines the strengths and weaknesses of integrating e-learning materials in Conversational Mandarin Chinese 1 and the suggestions of improving multimedia e-learning instruction as well. The study is launched as one of the many attempts to materialize Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) and e-learning platform in the context of Elementary Mandarin learning program in UiTM, in view of the limitations of learning hours in the classroom. When the strengths and weaknesses of integrating e-learning materials were fully assessed, the research findings provided some relevant references for the foreign language instructor in the establishment of interactive e-learning materials as supplementary learning materials that create learning in move, or flexible learning for learners who learn foreign language especially Mandarin in future.
