Abstract:
Covid-19 is a virus that spreads from the infected person through direct contact or by inhalation of particles from coughing, sneezing, saliva drops, nasal secretions, etc. The virus brought an avalanche of medical information from authorized sources, such as: World Health Organization, National Public Health Institutions, Hospitals, Doctors, etc., the information being taken over and distributed by media trusts on all channels of communication. Data collected in hospitals about people infected with Covid-19 were reported to the hierarchically superior forums, which presented them publicly. Hospitals, due to the fact that the new virus appeared recently, did not have scientifically based treatment protocols, nor did they have clear definitions of the various aspects of the virus, so the information evolved at the same time as the knowledge about the virus, both from a medical and also a statistical point of view.
With the increase in the volume of medical information and statistical data provided by public authorities, the number of information consumers has also increased exponentially and the majority of them are not trained in the medical or statistical field. The large amount of information in the field of medical science, difficult to understand by most people, to which was added the statistical data reported daily by national public health institutions and these aspects contributed to the phenomenon of information overload of the human brain. The consumers of information regarding SARS-CoV-2 and Covid-19, which includes teachers and students, began to no longer tolerate medical news and press releases of national public health institutions.
The purpose of this research is to present a working guide in conditions of uncertainty, a necessary guide for the leadership of educational institutions.
The research has the following objectives: carrying out the activity of education in good conditions, protecting teachers and students, adapting medical and statistical information, so that it can be understood also by the non-believers.
In order to achieve the purpose and objectives of the research, the following information was analyzed: official statements, statistical data, medical information, public statements, posts on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, theories of information processing, adaptive theories, laws, etc. and also comparisons were made between situations in different countries. The results of the analysis show that communication and statistical reporting errors were made.
The reason for the research of information overload is the fact that, by the appearance of the phenomenon of denying the existence of Covid-19, both the health of the teachers and the students, but also the existence of education within the known parameters is endangered.
