Abstract:
The paper studied the degree of stakeholders’ involvement in the design and development of learning outcomes in Georgian universities. The purpose of the study was to find out whether all main stakeholders (administrators, lecturers, and students) are actually or only formally involved in the process and whether any special training could increase their involvement. An experimental between-subject approach was applied. A pre- and post-experimental survey was conducted with 55 respondents (26 students, 17 lecturers and 12 administrators / employers). Between the surveys a four-week training was implemented, to increase the participants’ awareness of LOs, the ways of writing them, and the benefits for each group of respondents that can be drawn from being involved in de-signing and developing LOs. It was found that very few of them had taken part in either LOs design or relevant trainings before that experiment. After the experimental training, during the semester, they took an active part in LOs development and assessment, which became more meaningful (and not just bureaucratic) for them. The post-experimental survey revealed that the participants’ attitude towards LOs improved, every item of the questionnaires showed progress in involvement and attitude towards LOs importance. A conclusion was made that annual trainings are needed to involve stakeholders in LOs design and development. Keywords:
