Abstract:
The purpose of this paper is to present two exemplary plans of skills development programs which were implemented by the presenter in the context of the assignment by the Institute of Education Policy, Greece, within his role of Trainer for the production of Skills Development Programs in the thematic section "Caring for the Environment". First, a general reference will be made to the structure and philosophy of the Skills Development Labs. Then, a detailed presentation of the two programs will be prepared with the titles: "For the forest, I learn, act and create" and "We change and not the climate". The main objective of the first program is to raise students' awareness of the forest ecosystem and its environmental problems and to take action to protect it. Particular emphasis is placed on the issues of waste in the forest as well as forest fires. The second program examines the issue of climate change. First, there is an introduction to the causes, effects, and proposals for dealing with the problem. Then, the issue's global dimension and multifaceted nature are highlighted, and reference is made to the population movements it has caused, creating immigrants and refugees. Finally, the individual and collective possibilities of changing habits and practices in the context of adaptation to climate change and the effort to mitigate its adverse effects are investigated.
