Abstract:
The Spanish Ministry responsible for Science (formerly the Ministry of Education and Science and now the Ministry of Science and Innovation) has a bilateral programme of University cooperation with Brazil through its Agency CAPES. This programme is highly competitive, so only very few proposals are funded each year. The objective of this presentation is to explain the recently completed project (2007-2009) which involved the University of Vigo in Spain and the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil. The project was focused on the development of common tools in climate diagnosis and analysis. During the first year six Spanish professors stayed two weeks in Brazil working together with Brazilian professors to adapt new and sophisticated climate diagnosis tools to the particularities of the South American climate. Furthermore along the two years the Spanish group received four two-weeks visits by Brasilian professors, one four-months pre-doc stay and one four-months post-doc stay. A workshop was also organized in Sao Paulo, Brazil and three papers in international journals have been published by pre and post-doc students as the result of this cooperation. Keywords:
