THE FORMATION OF OFF-LINE SKILLS BY THE E-LEARNING COURSE FOR STUDENTS MAJORING IN LANGUAGES

Abstract:
The basic concept in teaching any foreign language is an autonomous activity of students, which involves conscious mastery of a foreign language associated with the acquisition of skills for implementing self-education and self-improvement. The future university graduate must be prepared for professional self-knowledge and self-development which is reflected in some regulations of federal state educational standards of higher education in the Russian Federation. The study reveals the effectiveness of using the e-learning course developed on the LMS Moodle platform for forming offline learning skills for students majoring in languages. The authors of the given article made an attempt to analyze literature based on offline educational activities in the context of computerizing education; identified capabilities of the LMS Moodle platform that provides creation of electronic educational resources; revealed pedagogical conditions that contribute to the effective formation of offline skills among students; developed and tested the e-learning course on the discipline “Lexicography”; described results of the pedagogical experiment and tools for diagnosing levels of offline learning skills formation by four key criteria: academic motivation, academic autonomy, competence, and reflexivity. As a result of the study, the authors concluded that using the e-learning course for forming offline learning skills and following necessary pedagogical conditions have a positive effect on offline skills formation for students majoring in languages.
