Abstract:
The implementation of the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) has led to a substantial change in the teaching-learning process in the university area. Hence, we need the active participation of teachers in the use of the most active and innovative teaching methodologies in order to generate and transmit information.
The aim of this project was to apply an active teaching methodology, supported by information and communications technology (ICT), and to design multimedia and audiovisual material about the basic procedures in the laboratory practices of the subject “Chemical Principles of Engineering”. This subject is taught in the first year of the “Industrial Engineering Degree” at the School of Engineering of Gipuzkoa.
This educational material is meant to be a complement to the practices’ script of the students in order to optimize the working time in the lab and to improve the ability of the student in handling the laboratory material. On the other hand, it combines multimodal educational environments to achieve an optimal learning as it adapts to the processing rate of each student and enhances the motivation and interest of students.
Furthermore we have also created for each lab practices on-line tests whit an emoodle tool (Wooclap) so as to interact with our students while watching the presentation of the video. On the other hand, once the practice is finished we can evaluate the acquired knowledge with a final test. Keywords:
On-line testing, e-learning methodology, Virtual Learning Environments.
