Abstract:
The work presented here reflects the educational experience in an experienced high school within an Initial Vocational Training Program, through service-learning methodology.
According to this methodology, students learn by providing a necessary service to the community. In fact we find our need in an education centre for adults placed in Betxí. In this centre a group of older women, between 70 and 86, requires specific attention relating to physical education. We contacted with the local high school to meet these needs. In their spare time, high school students prepare sessions for older people. After that, they go to the adult centre and provide the service.
The benefits achieved with the implementation of service-learning program extend not only to learning content made by the youth of the Secondary Education, in preparing the service, but also the development of social and citizenship skills that have occurred in the intergenerational encounter. Keywords:
