Abstract:
This paper will examine and explore the feasibility of rebuilding a full-time faculty at U. S. Colleges and Universities as they had in decades past. It will present the issues that have caused full-time faculty to lose their power and be reduced in number. The issue of the "professional administrator" will be examined as well as a way of examining the shift that has occurred in the last 20 or so years. The drive to "make money", treat students like consumers, focus on career programs, use part-time faculty, and the over utilization of technology will all be discussed.

The question to be addressed is can the Full-Time faculty regain there level of importance and stature on college campuses or are the changes somehow permanent. If the changes are permanent what does this mean for the future of Higher Education in the U.S.
