Abstract:
This presentation will address the shift that has occurred in the last forty years in Higher Education Leadership in the U.S. which has slowly been causing the decline of the U.S. educational system. Issues to be discussed will include, non-academics moving into Leadership roles in Higher Education, the embracing of the business model as a template for Leading, the pursuit of monetary gain over improving education, the loss of power on the part of Faculty, the building of beautiful campuses vs. the building of students minds, and the role of the "for profit" institution.

Suggestions will also be offered as to what needs to be done to correct the ills of the last forty years, particularly in changing the mindset of leadership (including the boards of directors/trustees).
