Abstract:
Malaysia needless to say is becoming more relevant among the developing country circle. Amongst other factors contributing to the development a country is human resource. Education is an integral part of the main subset and English as the international communication medium connects the dots between Malaysia and other countries; information, trading and knowledge. Since there are various studies on the “Good Language Learners”, this study is conducted to investigate language learning strategies employed by the more successful language students in a certain Council of Trust for the Bumiputera (MARA) institution of higher learning. MARA currently opt to cater the indigenous in any ways; academically and economics. Using the Strategy Inventory for Language Learning (SILL) (Oxford, 1990), this study examines the preferred language learning strategies of the GLL in the selected MARA institution. This research reveals some of the learning strategies that the GLL in this institution prefer to employ when approaching language learning tasks and also to enhance their language proficiency in the target language. This paper gives a significant result to the whole picture in engaging students for language learning.
