Abstract:
The interactive whiteboard can be found in almost every kindergarten in Slovakia. Its possible contribution to improving the educational process is no longer a topic of thorough discussion, due to the many existing scientific studies covering this subject matter. The possibilities of its use are vast and vary and we can, for instance, classify them according to the used software, according to the level of children's interactivity, but mainly according to the teaching methods applied by teachers in the learning and teaching process. An interactive whiteboard allows pre-primary education children to be actively involved in the activities, curriculum presented in learning and teaching. This scientific study presents the possibilities of using the interactive whiteboard in the teaching and learning process in pre-primary education. The qualitative research presented here was conducted in Slovakia, where the research participants were kindergarten teachers. The research method applied was a focus group, via which we gained interpretations of teachers on the studied phenomenon. Research results point to possibilities of developing media literacy through interactive whiteboard.
