Abstract:
In this paper a didactic proposal is suggested to teach the Environmental Education in the stage of Compulsory Secondary Education in the subject "Mathematics oriented to Academic Teaching" where environmental problems are taught using the mathematical knowledge and other transverse skills of the curriculum such as critical thinking, the ability to learn to learn, personal initiative and to critically assess our daily attitudes that can affect the environment, contributing to awareness, to contribute to sustainable development. The objectives are to raise awareness about the use of plastic through calculation and mathematical and statistical analysis, raise awareness of the problems of poor waste treatment and the goal of educating to take pro-environmental measures in our daily lives. The methodologies that have been carried out in its implementation in the classroom have been Project-Based Learning and the methodology of learning by Inquiry. Plastics present a global consumption and management problem, since they have flooded seas, oceans and our daily life, even being present in our food chain. Therefore, it is essential that each of us is aware of the need for this Environmental Education and work in community to sensitize and raise awareness among the citizens of the existing environmental problems and the need to take decisions and measures to minimize the negative effects of inadequate consumption and use.
