Abstract:
Currently in a large part of the world we can observe video games are the number one leisure activity. These are available in a large variety of platforms some specialized for them like consoles, others have varied goals also we can find games developed for smartphones or traditional computers. Every day more and more people are spending their free time playing video games.Only in Mexico, the video game market registered an income of more than 1,000 million dollars last year, positioning it in the 12th place worldwide and 1st in Latin America, ahead of Brazil by more than 90 million dollars.

Mexico having a large number of people interested in video games is a great place to take advantage of educational games.Educational video games exist since decades ago, there’s even a term to describe this category of games called” edutainment”.

Nowadays there’s a great variety of educational video games all around the world, just by googling “educational video game” the first results will show webpages with rankings of the best educational video games available for smartphones, from 5 to 21.
Speaking exclusively of smartphone apps there’s around 80,000 educational apps available that focus on different educational levels, kindergarten, elementary, middle school, high school.

For the development of our investigation and of our video game we used the agile methodology scrum.

To be able to apply this tool is important to know the most important foundations of the scrum methodology. Scrum is an agile methodology method with the following characteristics:Adopting a strategy of incremental development.Basing the quality of the result more in the knowledge of the self-organized teams of people.

It is ideal for projects with unstable requirements and for those that require swiftness and flexibility, frequent happenings in the development of specific software systems.After applying the surveys and analyzing the results this is the result of the study, the development of the game ¡Diviértete y Aprende! which has a visual style reminiscent of the classic games, our app will be available to the most widely used operative systems IOS and Android. It contains three game modes.

As part of development of the current investigation, an anonymous survey was taken about the game experience of the app ¡Diviértete y Aprende! to a group of 19 children between 5 and 13 years old. The Survey consists of 43 questions distributed in 4 different sections which are: Effectiveness, Learning Curve and Ease of Use, Ability to solve problems, System response speed and performance. In the answers there were the 5 following options: strongly agree, agree, neutral, disagree, strongly disagree.

From the results of the previously mentioned survey we can notice that the video game is very easy to use, it’s learning curve is very positive and the performance is optimal. We achieved that more than 85% of users had an intuitive and fun game experience.

As conclusion the research were able to design, implement and develop a video game for mobile devices which contains aspects that help the growing cognitive process of a child that can learn colors, letters, figures and math as other subjects using educational games which are able to be truly intuitive because they contain specific topics of interest and they’re designed , thought and developed with their needs in mind, always looking for a good performance and objectivity while also being fun and to the liking of the consumers.
