Abstract:
The evolution of new information technologies is daily and, in its path, finds few limits. This great interruption that has meant to the emergence of new types of communicators such as YouTubers and influencer along with the new social networks of communication like Snap Chat, have greatly increased the technological dependence of adolescent society. Making redundant the traditional personal interaction of face to face.
These new means have caused a profound social change in the way we interrelate with each other and in the construction of our identity, causing a migration from everyday interaction to these virtual spaces. Which have become practically real and have caused the arrival of a new entity, the "interactive avatar".
The adolescent lives in a continuous physical and psychological development so it is essential that academic institutions provide them with the information and the appropriate tools in order to students can use them in the most effective way.
Currently, these institutions do not totally accept, for example, facts that YouTube is a learning platform and it presents endless opportunities. Tutorials about software, the resolution of all kinds of mathematical problems, documentaries about geography, movies are just some examples of the virtues that this platform presents to the traditional academic world.
Through my own teaching experience at the International Film and Photography in the Filmosofía School of the city of Granada, during the 2017/2018 academic year, I have been able to use YouTube as a very important part of my methodology. With this platform I have verified that both the learning and the motivation of the students have been very positive during the learning process of the different work units.
In addition, by means of a student teacher assessment, students have noted their high satisfaction with respect to the methodology utilised and the use of ICT.
Another conclusion that has been drawn from this study is the creation of a virtual identity does not have to be negative from an educational point of view. As long as students are able to combine this virtual aspect with the reality in which they develop and from which they learn daily.
To sum up, traditional and virtual education should not enter into a conflict of interests but they should find a middle point where both realities meet and complement each other combining the best of each. Keywords:
