Abstract:
This study analyzes recycling perceptions and behaviors within a university setting, with the objective of assessing environmental awareness, identifying barriers to effective recycling, and examining the relationship between personal commitment and recycling practices on campus. A structured survey was administered to members of the university community, collecting information on environmental attitudes, recycling habits, knowledge of proper waste separation, and perceived obstacles in academic environments. The analysis combined descriptive statistics and bivariate correlations, to evaluate the influence of personal commitment on the likelihood of recycling at the faculty.

Results indicate a high level of environmental awareness among respondents, although recycling practices on campus are not consistently applied. The most frequent barriers include insufficient availability or visibility of recycling containers and unclear signage. Participants show good knowledge of conventional recycling streams but report lower confidence regarding the management of special waste. Statistical analyses reveal that individuals with higher self-reported environmental commitment are significantly more likely to recycle regularly at the university.

Overall, the findings highlight the importance of strengthening environmental engagement and improving the physical conditions for recycling within academic spaces. The study offers empirical evidence to guide sustainability strategies in higher education institutions.
