Abstract:
The COVID-19 pandemic has supposed serious challenges for faculty members and their institutions. Many faculties embrace this new reality, meeting the challenge head-on by training and supporting educators. During the first months during the pandemic, educators were doing their best to minimize disruption in education. They invested extra time in training to online lectures. They understood and desired that this recently acquired remote training to enhance their instruction could have positive effects on students results. For that, we consider necessary to explain the advantages and disadvantages of these new online lectures on educators and the student’s final reports.

The aim of this paper is to analyse the perception of educators about the new situation under online lecture system, and to see if their efforts have positive effects on students’ academic results and their satisfaction. We have selected the Economic Finance Department that belongs to the Faculty of Business and Economics of the University of Basque Country UPV/EHU as population to complete the study. We have distributed a questionnaire among educators of the selected department to analyse the new situation post-pandemic in terms of competencies, students’ academic results and personal situation of each faculty member.

The main results of the study confirmed that 68.18% of educators have adapted well and 27.27% very well to the new situation, being the main difficulties the following ones: stress and work overload, family conciliation and the lack of training to adapt to the new situation. In addition, it is important to mention how, although some problems occurred during the academic year, the satisfaction of students was higher than the previous one, being the availability of teachers the main positive factor to increase student’s satisfaction.
