Abstract:
The methodologies used in the teaching-learning process in higher education should be based, within the same area of knowledge, in common aspects that allow students to continue their training without problems in other similar studies or another university. This would be according to two of the main aims set by the European Higher Education Area (EHEA): quality assurance through comparable criteria and methodologies, and promotion of mobility of students and graduates.

In this sense, in this paper is developed a teaching tool that allows the use of common criteria in the acquisition of competences related to compulsory subjects, within the specific area of Electronics, in industrial engineering degrees, through the use of a common terminology and symbology based on the contents of currently in force UNE standards. The ultimate aim is that students can handle reference letter symbols and technical terms, obtained by consensus among professionals in Electronics field, and thus avoid differences in terminology, definitions and letters symbols in specialized bibliography.

With this aim, it has been studied all the UNE standards related to Electronics from different fields of activity in standardization of International Classification for Standards. Among them, it has been selected a set of standards whose content has a particular interest from the teaching point of view, With the information obtained from this standards set, a database with standardized terminology and symbology in Electronics field has been generated. Depending on their affinity, this information has been classified in specific subjects and thematic units, both related to industrial engineering degrees. To manage this database, it has been developed an application for adding, editing or viewing, through reports, the stored information. This tool facilitates the use of standard definitions, letters symbols and terminology of reference in a particular subject, and allows to propose activities based on this terminology to the students, who also will handle standards related to this specific field.
