Abstract:
Thermography is a technique for obtaining images by capturing infrared radiation in the thermal spectrum. In this way, temperature can be reflected in an image. This is a very useful tool for different tasks in the field of engineering, medicine, materials science, geometry, etc.
Thermography also has potential for educational uses. The process of thermographic acquisition and data processing has an important educational potential for learning the physical principles of heat transfer and radiation. However, the use of thermography as a teaching tool has been little explored, and there are few works that approach it from a pedagogical point of view. The thermographic cameras price has been reduced in recent years, and now, it is a resource which can be used in the context of university education but also in high school and, even, in primary school.
The aim of this work is to carry out a bibliometric study and a meta-analysis based on systematic search criteria, addressing the existing literature in the field of thermography applied to education at different levels. Different bibliometric tools (Bradford law, Lockta’s law, impact indexes, etc.) will be used to evaluate the intellectual structure of the field of knowledge. Thus, a meta-analysis was implemented using a clustering strategy in order to generate a network map based on co-occurrences to evaluate the relationship with the thermography applied to education with other scientific fields.
In this way, a starting point will be available to promote educational research in the field of thermography.
