Abstract:
The aim of this document is to propose the skills’ development of the professors at the Higher Technological Institute of Puerto Vallarta (ITSPV), who are involved in the Education by Distance.
As a result to the investigation, it was detected that the majority of the professors lack some or all of the competencies for this modality such as general and specific competencies: pedagogical, technological and attitudinal as well as the professor’s competency profile.
According to the Educational Model of Education by Distance (MEED) and the reviewed literature regarding the profile and the role of the Education by Distance professor, the training must be necessarily extended to other areas of knowledge enabling the professors to reach a suitable preparation for the practice of the Education by Distance.
Therefore, it is required to develop pedagogical, technological and attitudinal skills to help raise the academic performance.
Hope that this proposal meets the needs of Education by Distance and that it will be a complement for the MEED of ITSPV.
