Abstract:
Convergence in the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) supposes the development of quality improvement enterprise in the field of university education. The new standards involve a review of titles, educational activities methodologies and evaluation processes.
In this work, the evolution of the Economics Statistics education of our subjects is exposed. The traditional teaching methods are not able to answer to the quick changes and growth of information. Along the last years, the Bologna declaration (1999) and advent of electronic data media have produced a clearly different technologically and methodologically approach. We have introduced some improvements in the learning education of our Economic Statistics subjects that contribute to critic spirit of students and make enable students to think as economists. We have increased the use of new technologies and we have focused on a blended learning model. As well, we have introduced continuous evaluation methods of students as European Higher Education Area requires.
This paper not only describes the mentioned progresses but compares the effect of two approaches: the traditional teaching method and e-learning method with continuous assessment. The different methodologies are confronted with the academic results of students along the last years. This empirical exercise offers an evaluation of the methods successful. The results point out factors that may be important for making new progress in the learning education system and the continuous assessment model.
