Abstract:
Many physical systems can be modeled by the same experiments and random variables. The distribution of the random variables involved in each of these systems can be analyzed and the results can be used in different applications and examples, so it is very important the development of topics that correspond to distributions of probability statistics courses is very important, but the issues that present higher difficulty of understanding in statistics courses at the UNAM FES students are precisely relating to the study of probability, which has made it necessary to develop strategies for the improvement of the teaching-learning process with the use of the technology available. In this context a course has developed e-learning to complement and reinforce the knowledge acquired in the classroom, which means achieving greater motivation in students and get better school performance. The e-learning courses are educational platforms or virtual environments that support University Learning and teaching. At the moment we can say that the use of these tools have transformed part of the traditional teaching spaces in virtual spaces for teaching and learning. The e-learning course corresponds to the subject of discrete distributions of probability: Binomial and Poisson.
The E-learning course was developed with the purpose of:
(a) contribute to the content of study, skills and competencies that it must be purchased by students
(b) integrate the use of statistical software to highlight applications to problems and the themes developed real contexts
(c) providing interactive materials that facilitate the learning
(d) provide a mechanism for continuous assessment which serve as guide during the course and
(e) promoting collaborative learning online by assigning projects and activities to be carried out in working groups.
The e-learning course has the following structure:
1) development theorist of the discrete probability, Binomial and Poisson distributions,
2) problems solved,
3) exercises
4) exercises that are solved with internet connection
5) videos of each topic
6) applets and interactive exercises
7) examination and questions with immediate evaluation.
Also, the course contains forum, chat and inbox tasks. The e-learning course going to be implemented in the courses however we have tested this platform in a sample of students and teachers with a good acceptance. The integration of available resources relating to the themes in an e-learning course, gets that both students and teachers have access to modern teaching methods, where the emphasis should be on concepts, applications and interpretations, with the use of appropriate software for the results. Keywords:
