Abstract:
Simulation and gamification are two fundamental tools in the practical learning process for students. They help the acquisition of skills on the applicability of theoretical knowledge. In this work, we present the design of a practical activity, either individual or collective, for the knowledge of the functioning of financial markets, in particular, the stock market. On the one hand, students will learn how market prices are formed, as well as tools to determine their evolution. On the other hand, students will be able to apply the theory of stock market portfolios such as the Markowitz efficient portfolio, and see the evolution of the same from the point of view of profitability and risk.
To do this, students will be able to access real quotes from different stock markets to construct their different portfolios. Subsequently, they will analyse the results of these portfolios by calculating the final profitability obtained, taking into account not only the profitability obtained from the sale of the assets in the portfolio but also the dividends, if any, distributed by these stocks. This work presents the design of the activity as well as the whole procedure and the learning outcomes in each of the phases of the activity. Keywords:
